Benefits and Leave Administration Specialist

Job Description


Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain administrative procedures for benefits processes and leave administration, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Manage day-to-day benefits processing, including enrollments, terminations, claims handling, and FMLA leave.
  • Provide exceptional customer service support and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Create materials to enhance understanding of benefits offerings and facilitate smooth transitions for employees returning from leave.
  • Conduct benefits orientations and assist with open enrollment activities.
  • Advise on leave laws' intersection with other benefits and compensation programs.
  • Review and revise leave policies to ensure legal compliance.
  • Stay updated on relevant leave and accommodation laws.
  • Handle retroactive pay and perform additional assigned duties.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field, plus five years of relevant experience in benefits, leave, or employee benefits administration;or
  • Eight years of relevant experience in benefits, leave, or employee benefits administration in lieu of a degree.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including formulas, macros, pivot tables, and v-lookups.
  • Advanced knowledge of HRIS systems and the ability to adapt to new technical platforms.




Desired Qualifications:
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • SHRM s Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential is a plus.
  • Non-profit sector experience is desirable.
  • Experience working within a unionized environment is advantageous.
